What to go for?? Assembled PC or Branded PC

Owning a PC now-a-days has become a trend, everybody wants to become smart & flaunt their love for gadgets. Today, there are ‘n’ number of products in the market, with different configuration, features, design, etc. Buying a computer depends on what exactly is your requirement & budget; when opting for a Branded PC; sometimes it is difficult to get the required configuration of a branded computer at an affordable price.

When you face this, what’s the option? The option is to go for assembled one, this enables you to get the desired configuration with the desired operating system (as a branded one would come with the operating system pre-installed, so you don’t make a choice) at decent price from a reliable source. Assembled PCs enable you to get started from the very basic machine you need & you can gradually upgrade it on timely basis whenever you like, you pay only for the up-gradation part & that’s really the USP of an assembled one, don’t you think.

Assembled Computers are becoming increasingly popular day by day for homes & small offices. The following are the advantages of having an assembled computer:
  • Saves Money
  • Future Up-gradation is possible
  • Choose from the best of the breed components
  • Guarantees You Get what you want.
  • Avoid proprietary designs and/or outdated products to be used in Your PCs as done quiet frequently by number of big brands.
  • Have your own freedom of choice when it comes to quality standards of the components used in your PC depending on your budget & requirements.

Tips for buying an assembled PC:
  • Find out a company that has market goodwill.
  • Make a list of hardware that you require, by consulting the company’s experts.
  • Ensure that all hardware parts have warranty.
  • The cabinet of the PC is an essential part. Nowadays some very good ATX cabinets with powerful SMPS (Power supply), 3 fans and front USB ports can be found at cheap prices. 3-fan cabinet keeps the cabinet cool. Front USB ports are for handy use of external drives like flash drives.
  • Monitors are available in different models, category and screen sizes. Some monitors are called LCD monitors. These are absolutely thin and lightweight.
  • If you are a music lover, you can also choose from wide variety of good sound system with some speakers.
  • The CD drives are no more called CD-drives. These are now combo drives. In a combo drive you can play DVD, ACD, MP3, CD's and can write your own CD's. Conventional CD drives and CD writers are also available.
  • The newest mouse type is the wireless optical mouse. In this mouse there is no roller ball attached & there is no wire; so you can use from anywhere from a specified distance.
  • If you need to take printouts on a regular basis then go for a printer.

Last piece of advice:

Our Mindset has always been dominated by anything foreign. Let me tell you one thing, all Branded PC’s are NOT manufactured originally, most of the times they are assembled. There is NO Technological Addition; they buy from other manufacturers & assemble them as a PC, with the stamp of their Brand.

In picking the right computer for you, it is not really about buying or not choosing a branded computer. Going for an assembled one can be disastrous if not purchased from a reliable source, so I insist that you first choose the correct vendor when making a choice of assembled PC. The Choice is JUST Yours!!!

Computer Running Slow? Know Why?

We all have experienced slow running computers in our life. Haven’t we? Its natural for your PC to run slow when it starts aging, but its not necessary that an old computer cannot perform the way it used to on its first day when we bought it. Apart from the normal aging process, there are lot of reasons why your computer might be running slow. In this post we're listing out top 5 reasons of why your PC might be running slow!

Shortage of Space: Having an appreciable amount of free space is very important for your PC’s performance. The more space is there on the disk, the more efficiently Windows perform its tasks and actions. You should check out the disk space available and if its at a minimum, try cleaning up your PC.

Check for Viruses: It is very important to perform regular anti-virus, anti-malware checks. There are various types of viruses; not only they pose a risk to your personal information such as related to your credit/debit cards and they also slow down your computer processes.

Too many programs running in the background: Today internet is loaded with various applications, programs which claim to speed up your PC or your internet, but in reality these programs slow down your PC’s performance by utilizing the space for processes and hence your PC do not have much attention to the actions that you are asking it to do. Also, if there are programs which you do not use and they run unnecessarily in background you should uninstall them to speed up your PC.

Fragmented Hard Drive: Generally when we add a new file to the hard drive, it takes up the space according to the sequence available, but deleting or moving the file leaves a gap in your hard drive and hence we call this kind of hard drive as fragmented. It is important that you defragment your hard drive so that it remains in an organized fashion so it performs better and runs smoothly.

Upgrading your RAM: We all know that higher the RAM, faster is the computer performance! So, next time you step out with your PC to a Computer Hardware Expert, ask for increasing the RAM size. This would definitely ignite your computer’s performance.

So we assume that; you are now aware about what may be the possible reasons for your slow computer, you can try carrying out these activities to help in boosting your PC’s performance! :)

Latest 10 Tech Trends in 2014

Times have changed, and so has technology; new trends in technologies have started emerging one after the other, it’s a massive roll out. Lets have a look in the past and present, from those big handy mobile phones to smartphones, from mainframes to ultra books, from hypertext invention to web 2.0 and now cloud computing; we have come a long way. With this on-going revolution in the world of technology, it becomes quite difficult to keep pace with these new advancements coming in the market, so we thought why not compile the latest additions for our readers so that they know it now. So, let’s have a look at the most promising technology trends for 2014! :-)

  • Wearable Tech - We all know what’s in store when talking about wearable tech. Google Glass, Smart-watches like Samsung’s Galaxy Gear watch and the Pebble Smart watch is the future in this cadre. Recently, Google announced its sales of Glass to all U.S. residents, expanding the wearable tech market. Apart from this, there are lot of health-tracking devices like the Nike Fuel Band, Jawbone Up and Fitbit Force, which can now be integrated with so many healthcare apps and this has become a major force in driving the health technology market into the mainstream. Wearable technology is fast emerging at the moment and according to research firm ABI; this industry will hit $6 billion by 2018.
  • Robotics - Another technology, which is reaching the horizons, is robotics and artificial intelligence. Google with its incredible portfolio of the Cheetah, Petman and Atlas has made the world wonder of what the technology giant has planned for machines. If you are a robotics geek do participate in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) robotics challenge which have the finals in the end of 2014 and the winners will receive a whooping $2 million as prize money.
  • 3D Printing - The future of 3D printing is bright and is expected to hit the mainstream soon. According to growth projections by IDC, 3D printers units will have a compound growth rate of 59 percent and revenue growing by 29 percent from 2012 to 2017.
  • Data Privacy - this is one of the most sought after concept after NSA's snooping mission blew off courtesy Edward Snowden, as a result of that millions of internet users have now started taking steps to safeguard their data using methods such as email encryption, clearing browser caches and cookies etc. In US itself, a lot of cases were filed against the US government for breaching the privacy of the people, which are still pending. The global service providers Google, Microsoft were also put under the scanner for letting NSA snoop through the customer's private data, as a result they have announced initiatives which would prevent agencies like NSA to collect personal data through the services offered by them.
  • The World of Internet - According to many reports and research studies, it is been said that the Internet is still in the beginning stages of development; and we thought it had reached at its maximum potential.. At the 2013 IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, technology company Philips demonstrated a concept called the HomeCooker neXt that allows users to roast, steam or sauté a range of dishes, with separate meat and vegetable compartments, and the AutoStir technology prevents burning and ensures thorough cooking. Now you might be wondering why we are talking about kitchen appliances while we started with talking about Internet, well here the catch is the cooking device we described above can be controlled using your smartphone, now isn’t that an awesome and clever way of using technology.
  • Smart TVs - Just watching movies and shows on TV is just not on cards nowadays; instead you can now use TVs to browse the Internet, launch apps and have social interactions. LG is planning to release a feature that lets users communicate with smart home appliances, using a mobile messaging app called Line, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. Samsung’s smart TVs will soon let users use voice command and gestures to change the channel, control the volume and stop videos.
  • Mobile Apps - Gartner predicts that through 2014, improved JavaScript performance will begin to push HTML5 and the browser as a mainstream enterprise application development environment. It is also predicted that apps will continue to grow, as they are more targeted and smaller than the real applications. The next evolution in user experience will be to leverage intent, inferred from emotion and actions, to motivate changes in end-user behavior.
  • Cloud Computing – Cloud is the buzzword these days, and especially amongst the IT and services industry because of the flexibility that cloud computing is offering to its users. Companies like Amazon, Linode, Windows have set standards where they have replaced the need of having a physical data center in place, with better features related to data privacy and disaster recovery. To explain you more, in the cloud/client architecture, the client is a rich application running on an Internet-connected device, and the server is a set of application services hosted in an increasingly elastically scalable cloud-computing platform. The cloud is the control point, and the applications can span multiple client devices through the use of the browser available at client devices, mobile and desktop alike.
  • Personal Cloud - Cloud-computing has not only benefited the service delivery organizations but has also influenced the way we work at the personal level. Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Office 365, Skydrive are such robust and easy to user services which allow you to maintain all your necessary files on the cloud, and you can access the same files through multiple devices such as your personal computer, your smart phone etc. making your data organization much more convenient and accessible round the clock.
  • Smartphones Market- Not everyone must be a proud owner of a smartphone, but that will eventually change. Swiss giant Credit Suisse says that over 1 billion smartphones will sell worldwide in 2014, getting a boost from demand in China. According to IDC, smartphone shipments in China’s growing market are estimated to hit 450 million units in 2014 – compared to an estimated 360 million in 2013.
Hence now we know that what’s on offer, and how much more the technology is going to change with time. We should all be geared up to reap out the benefits that technology has to offer in times coming ahead.

Extend Your Laptop's Life (Part II)

Hoping that you must have read my earlier post, if you haven’t read it here! So now you know how to extend your laptop’s life in 5 basic steps which are very routine in nature, that is you don’t need any technical support in doing so! Going one step ahead this time this post will concentrate on some very basic technical steps which when taken, will enhance your laptop’s life by another 6 months to 1 year. So lets have a look at these:

Step 1: Clean up your desktop - How many of you have a cluttered desktop? Do you find it difficult to search your files on desktop? If this is the case then you need to cleanup your desktop! Just imagine a room with all your clothes, accessories, footwear littered all over each other, you need to get ready and aren’t able to find what to wear! What do you feel in this situation? Now imagine a room with all the things organized properly, is it hard to find your appropriate clothing in this situation?

I’m sure the second situation is where everyone of us will be very comfortable & hence the same goes for your desktop. A cluttered desktop not only makes it difficult to find for files but it eats a lot of memory too! To clean your desktop, you need to run desktop cleanup wizard:

Right click the desktop →  go to arrange icons by → click run cleanup desktop wizard.

This window will only enlist the shortcut items on your desktop & by selecting them; the system won’t delete the items; rather they’ll be moved to another folder where you do not have to see them for now. Click Next & Finish.

Remember: the remaining items you need to delete or move manually. You can create separate folders or move them to My Documents & rearrange accordingly.

Step 2: Disk Cleanup - This program comes with Windows & cleans all the unwanted files safely. To open it follow this path:

Start → All Programs → Accessories → System Tools → Disk Cleanup. Once you click the program following window opens up:

Choose the drive you want to clean & click OK. It’ll take some time to analyze the data; once done click OK & there you go all the unwanted files are deleted. :)

Step 3: Disk Defragmentation - This program arranges your files in a drive in an orderly manner so that the disk & drives work more efficiently. To open this, you follow the path mentioned above, instead click on Disk Defragmenter. Choose the drive & click OK.

P.S: This might take several minutes to few hours, hence carry out this activity when system is not in use.

Apart from the above mentioned 3 steps, you can also try out the below:
  • Scan your computer for viruses - make sure you scan your system on time-to-time basis.
  • Uninstall Programs you don’t use
  • Optimize Start-up Programs
Follow these basic steps & you’ll definitely experience the difference in your laptop! You can also comment below or call us at 9810037064 or drop an email at microtekndf@gmail.com if you are looking for effective services for your Laptop or Desktop.

Extend your Laptop’s Life (Part I)

In one of my blogs I had enlisted 5 most common reasons of why a laptop runs slow and till now I hope you must figured out your reason. In this section I’ll be enlisting some very simple and basic steps that can help you increase the life of your laptop or desktop before you finally decide for shedding money out of your pocket to buy a new one.

Step 1: Treat it like your Baby

No matter how strong your laptop is; remember it is fragile in nature. Many times when we return back from home after work; the first thing most of us always do is to pitch our laptop bag onto the bed, table or the place where we have an habit of keeping it without realizing that we have kept it hard on the floor. Doing this often tends to damage either the display or the hard-drive of the laptop as these two components are the most fragile. You can avoid this damage by affording a bag which gives you maximum protection; place your laptop gently on the surface; and avoid moving it when your hard-drive is performing any operations. You laptop will thank you for this!

Step 2: Keep it Clean

All the electronic devices we use in daily life are dirt magnets including our laptops. The display screen, keyboard and the fan of your laptop suck up the dust just like your vacuum cleaner does. So always clean your hardware on regular basis, keep your laptop in a place where there is minimal dust. There are many cleaning kits available in the market. Keeping your laptop clean on regular basis can increase its lifespan significantly.

Step 3: Don’t charge the battery too often

How many of you remove your laptop battery when it is plugged in an outlet? If your answer to the above question is NO, then probably you need to change them into YES for the sake of your laptop! Always remove your battery when your laptop is plugged in; when you do so it increases your battery’s life. If you leave it in the AC power will overheat and overcharge the battery which causes harm and decreases the life. When you work with the battery in, use it till your machine warns you for low-battery and then recharge the battery to the maximum.

Step 4: Use Hibernate; instead of Standby mode

The next thing to remember is to use Hibernate mode instead of Standby. Why? Because in the Standby mode your machine is still using the battery power in small fragments which eventually consumes the whole power and reduces the charge cycle of your laptop battery. You can avoid this by using Hibernate mode as it saves your laptop’s current state writing it as a file to the hard-drive which requires no power. When you restart; hibernate mode just loads the file which returns you; where you left just like standby and without consuming the battery power.

Step 5: Keep your Laptop Cool

Laptops generally get overheated; this may be due to heavy usage or plugging it too often with the battery in. The hotter it gets; the more it is prone to any component failure and if you are using it routinely on a bed or couch you are making it more difficult for the machine to vent out the air. Avoid this situation by using a cooling pad. This not only draws away heat from the system, but also increases lifespan of the laptop’s internal fan as it won’t be running too long or very often.

Follow these basic steps and help your laptop to increase its life. You can also comment below or call us at 9810037064 or drop an email at microtekndf@gmail.com if you are looking for effective Laptops Bags, Cleaning Kits or Cooling Pads.
